Helical piles for solar panels
Solar array foundations without the concrete
Ground-mount solar needs foundations that resist wind, frost and uplift. Helical piles install fast, work on uneven ground and need no concrete or curing.
Why helical piles
Quick to install across a whole array
Fast rows
No forms, no concrete and no cure time. Crews can drive a row of piles and start mounting racking the same day.
Resists wind and frost
Piles reach below the frost line and can be designed for uplift as well as bearing loads, which matters for panels in the wind.
Easy on the land
Minimal excavation and no concrete mean less site disturbance, and piles can be removed when the system is retired.
Compared with the usual options
Why concrete footings slow solar jobs
Poured footings or ballast blocks for ground mounts mean excavation, forms, concrete deliveries and waiting on cure. Across an array, that adds up to days of delay and a lot of disturbed ground.
Helical piles go in with compact drive equipment and give you a torque reading for each one. Their capacity can be matched to the racking manufacturer's loads, so the layout stays predictable.
Solar pile design depends on the racking, wind and snow loads and the soil, so it should be specified by an engineer. We supply the piles and tooling to that spec.
How it works
From layout to mounted panels
01
Lay out the array
Mark the pile locations from your racking plan and gather the design loads and soil information.
02
Specify the piles
Send us your pile schedule. We supply the piles, extensions and drive tooling to match it.
03
Drive and mount
Drive each pile to the required torque, set the heights and attach your racking.
What we supply
Everything for a solar foundation

Questions
Helical piles for solar panels: FAQ
Are helical piles good for ground-mount solar?
Yes. They are widely used for ground-mount arrays because they install quickly, handle uplift and frost, and need no concrete.
How deep do the piles need to go?
Depth depends on the soil, the loads and the frost depth. Your engineer sets the required depth and torque for the array.
Can piles be installed on slopes?
Often, yes, since each pile is driven to its own depth and the top height can be set for the racking. The slope and the racking system matter, so check your design.
Can piles work for a small residential array?
Yes. For small ground mounts, a few piles can replace concrete footings, and smaller tooling is enough.
What if the soil is rocky?
Rock and cobbles can stop piles. A site test or soil information helps you plan, and sometimes a different foundation approach is needed. Talk to us about your site.
